The Birches at Garnet Hill a beautiful, year-round secluded chalet, perfect for a long
vacation or a short getaway. It has four bedrooms and
two full baths, and features a great room with a 22 foot cathedral ceiling and a floor to ceiling natural stone wood burning
fireplace. It has a fully equipped modern kitchen and a recreation room with TV and
VCR/DVD. The home is accented with tongue and groove stained pine walls and
exposed beams. It is warmly decorated with comfortable antique and authentic
Adirondack furnishings. Situated on 5 1/2 private acres, the Birches offers all the
comforts of home in a location and setting that provides everything you could ask for in a
mountain retreat.
Our Home - The Main Floor...
The main floor consists of the great room, dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom.
The great room is the perfect place for family and friends to gather around a warm fire
and reflect upon the adventures of the day. It is highlighted by a captivating floor to
ceiling natural stone wood burning fireplace. Flanking the fireplace are twin sliding glass
doors which lead to the deck overlooking the surrounding birch woods. The great room
flows into the attached dining room and kitchen.
The kitchen is brand new, featuring stainless steel appliances and beautiful hand made
hardwood cabinets. It is fully equipped with a full size refrigerator, electric stove,
microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, cooking utensils, china and flatware. There are
ample cupboards and pantry space.
The master bedroom is spacious and luxurious. It features a king size bed, plenty of
closet and dresser space, and a beautiful private bath. The large windows offer plenty of
sunlight and views of the woods.
Our Home - The Ground Floor...
On the ground floor are three bedrooms, a second full bath, a laundry room with washer
and dryer, and a mud room. One bedroom is finished with antique oak furniture and has
a full size bed. The "princess suite" features a queen bed and a single along with a stereo.
The third bedroom has a convertible queen sofa and built in bunks. These also convert
into a sitting area. This room has a TV/DVD/VCR player. There are plenty
of VCR tapes along with board and card games for the whole family. Satellite TV and high speed
internet are available a short walk away at the Garnet Hill Lodge.
The house is extremely comfortable year round. In the winter it is warmed by a state of
the art Buderus zoned oil heating system. The fireplace adds a touch
of toasty warmth after a full day out in the crisp mountain air. In the summer the home is kept naturally
cool by the shade of the surrounding woods, along with its large windows, open floor
plan, and ceiling fans throughout.

Area Activities - Winter Months...
Garnet Hill is a 635-acre private community situated in New York's Adirondack Park.
The community's resources offer an abundance of both warm and cold weather activities.
In the winter, there are over 55 KM of groomed cross country ski trails right outside your
door. The Garnet Hill Cross Country Ski Center is rated one of the top 10 centers in the
country. Other winter activities within the community include snowshoeing, tobogganing
and sleigh riding. Superb downhill skiing and snowboarding is less than 15 minutes
away at nearby Gore Mountain.
Area Activities - Warmer Weather...
There are many warm weather activities within Garnet Hill. A short
five minute walk from the house takes you to Thirteenth Lake. This
two mile long spring fed lake is "forever wild". It is wonderful for canoeing and fishing, and has a lovely beach with a dock and
rafts for swimming and diving. Within the community there are many well marked and
maintained trails for hikers of all skill levels. There are also over 30 miles of great
mountain hiking trails. Nestled in the woods are two well maintained tennis courts.
The Garnet Hill Lodge...
A short walk up the hill from the house is the Garnet Hill Lodge. As our guests you have
full access to all its facilities. It features an excellent restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch
and dinner. It also offers a comfortable lounge with a beautiful fireplace, a game room
with a pool table, a TV room with a 50" flat screen TV
and dish service, and a library with computers and internet access.
