DESCRIPTION
Built circa 1890 as a
private lodge, “Hiawatha” is one of the oldest camps
on Mountain Lake, a small, quiet lake in the
Southern Adirondacks. Situated 25 feet above the water on a
sunny slope,
“Hiawatha” is graced with Gorgeous Sunset Views Of
The Lake from its four bedrooms and from the living
room and porch spanning its lakefront facade. A flight of
steps leads from the deep, furnished porch of the
traditional brown-shingled cottage to a 42-foot long
stone-walled waterfront with a shallow, hard bottom, ideal
for swimming.
“Hiawatha”
has been lovingly maintained and recently renovated as a
traditional Three-Season Cottage charmingly
decorated with comfortable camp furnishings. Vintage
accessories and original art distinguish this pleasant,
versatile living space.
The bright, Lake-View
Living Room
has freshly whitewashed cedar shingle walls and high,
exposed-beam ceilings. New and antique classic cottage
furniture, upholstered and painted in subtle leaf-greens
and aquas, includes a queen sleeper-sofa, love seat,
comfortable reading chairs and cushioned wicker. Neutral,
textural carpeting warms the room. The original riverstone
mantel is fitted with an ivory enameled Gas Fireplace,
extending the vacation season into spring and fall. A
dining table sits beneath a wide lakefront window; a
folding games table & chairs can be set up for playing
one of the classic board games. An entertainment armoire
contains standard-service satellite TV with VCR and DVD, a
stereo and a selection of CD’s and videos. Wireless
Dial-Up Internet Service is provided for your laptop.
The large Kitchen
is wonderful for a big family or two families vacationing
together – it has two stoves (one gas, one electric),
two refrigerators and a double sink! Delicious local
spring water for drinking is provided in a water cooler. A
breakfast center is stocked with microwave, coffee maker,
espresso machine, toaster and electric teapot. Other small
appliances include a blender, popcorn popper, toaster
