DESCRIPTION
Our summer
house is right on the lake, with a million dollar view
of the lake, the "North Shore" (NY) and
Vermont's Green Mountains. It is 1/3 mile downhill
from the main road, Route 22.
The house
is one story, has 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, large
living and dining room facing the lake. There's a nice
front porch, front lawn, and our beach.
The master
bedroom has a queen bed and two dressers; the guest
room at the other end has two twin beds and a dresser.
It has a private "half bath". These
two bedrooms are newly furnished, very comfortable,
and look out on the lake. The third bedroom is
smaller, has two twins, dresser, and night stand
(kids' room!).
The large
living and dining room features a great picture
window, fireplace, skylights, and two doors to the
porch.
The
kitchen is compact, efficient, has the usual pots,
pans, dishes, shelf space, and appliances. A
Washer/Dryer laundry is attached to the kitchen.
We have
plenty of excellent well water, the lawn is mowed, and
trash collected weekly. All linens are included.
There's a fine FM stereo with CD player in the living
room, and clock radios in other rooms. There are two
telephones - one being cordless to use outside, and a
phone jack for your computer (if you must!) at the
desk.
It's a one
mile walk (or drive) into the village; you'll find a
good library (with four public computers), bank, post
office, a fine gift shop, two grocery/notions stores.
Down from Main Street at the Westport Marina, there's
a great gift/toy store, and The Galley, an
indoor-outdoor cafe for casual meals, entertainment many nights.
Westport also has a lovely upscale French
Restaurant on the lake - "Le Bistro du Lac".

There are
five homes on our bay; we are the middle house. The
houses are widely separated and private. We offer a
safe, flat-bottom rowboat, a canoe, an inflatable
boat, swim float, and a bunch of beach toys. Swimming
is generally good from early July through August.
There is a state boat launching ramp, with parking, in
Westport. Fishing is good to great! For a rainy day,
you'll have a chest full of board games.
So - you
will be comfortable day and night in our summer home,
with quiet, conveniences, and the lake, with access to
the beautiful Adirondacks. We have 46 mountains of
4,000' or more, and many "46-ers" who have
climbed them all! We have lots of reference
material on area attractions, including museums,
hiking, fishing, dining, and on Burlington and
Montreal as well.
Westport
is a pleasant small town, home to the well-known Camp
Dudley, and our wonderful Depot Theatre, a
marina, and two top-notch restaurants.
Lake
Placid is an hour away; Burlington - often rated high
among all small cities of America - can be reached by
ferry (every 30 minutes) from Essex or bridge (free)
from Crown Point. The Burlington area has great and
varied museums, and restaurants of many sizes and
levels. And shopping! Other area
attractions include Fort Ticonderoga, Ausable Chasm,
and the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake.
Montreal
is just over two hours away and is an interesting and
charming city. Please note: by summer 2008, to
re-enter the US, you must have either (a) your
passport, OR (b) both your driver's
license and proof of citizenship - such as a
birth certificate. See travel.state.gov for more
details.
Come and
enjoy our lake, our mountains, and our summer home!
