DESCRIPTION
Camp Balsam is located on Osgood Pond in Paul Smith's New York. This is
one of the original buildings of a great camp and is located directly on the shore of
Osgood Pond. Sit and enjoy the beautiful views from the screened in porch and
tune your ears to the beautiful sounds of nature surrounding you.
Hear the loons
call, fish jump or canoe paddles softly hitting the water. See the eagles
occasionally flying by as they teach their young to fish.
If you enjoy fishing, the quietness of Osgood Pond allows you to do so right
from the dock. Spend some time and you are sure to catch Northern Pike, small or
large mouth Bass and Perch. Bring your camera along, the experiences are worth a
million memories and a lot of fish stories to be told!
Bring your bathing suit, the fresh spring fed pond is ready for an early
morning swim or a late afternoon cooling. Enjoy the sandy beach, great for sinking
your toes into as you sink into a good book. If you choose, relax and leave your
cares behind as you sit water side and take in the fresh pine smell and calming
sounds of nature.
Calling all adventurers! Day trips are close at hand, if you choose. Visit
White Pine Camp on Osgood Pond. This was the summer vacation home of
President Coolidge. He spent many summer days fishing and relaxing here on
Osgood Pond. Camp Balsam is near St. Regis Mountain and St. Regis canoe area.
Climb a mountain or take a canoe ride, both are only 10 minutes away. Even
closer is the Adirondack Visitor Center located less then a mile away. It is home to
a large trail system and educational network. Another wonderful camera moment,
as all moments are in the Adirondacks.
For a little dose of reality, take a ride to Saranac Lake where you can find
some dining and shops. Ten minutes further and you are in Lake Placid, home of
the 1980 Olympics. Spend a day and walk the street as you shop from window to
window. A great stop for various souvenirs.
No matter how you choose to spend your time, Camp Balsam is sure to have
something to help you relax and unwind from all your stress. You and your family
will have many memories that will last a lifetime to come.
